Developed by Rodney Mullen and C.L. Composites, the Almost Über skateboard deck is actually a skateboard-within-a-skateboard design. An ultra-light, internal carbon fiber foam deck that's nearly as stiff as metal, acting like rebar, is encased in a standard 7-ply wood layup. By embedding it within a 7-ply, its metallic feeling goes away, while providing far more snap than a pure wooden deck. And since the wood is supported, the individual cells break down far slower than on an unsupported deck, creating a much longer lifespan. The lateral stiffening produces better consistency and accuracy. Flip tricks depend heavily on exactly the moment your foot swipes across the edge of your deck. By minimizing flex along the rails, your board control will improve. The carbon fiber structure within the 7-ply also reduces the overall weight substantially, which produces a deck that reacts more quickly to every movement, as well as flips faster and more precisely. This deck measures 7.8 inches wide and 31.6 inches long; it does not come with trucks or wheels.
